Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Public Works Authority “Ashghal”

Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Qatari Public Works Authority “Ashghal”, stating that Ashghal will provide technical support related to infrastructure projects that QFFD is financing in several countries. Through the MoU, both parties will coordinate to exchange expertise to contribute to the implementation of projects more efficiently and to a higher quality.

The MoU was signed by HE Mr. Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari, Director General of the Qatar Fund for Development and Eng. Saad bin Ahmed Al Muhannadi, the president of Ashghal, at a ceremony held at Ashghal’s building on Tuesday 26 December 2017 .

Dr Al Muhannadi said, “It is our honour at Ashghal to provide all the support for the great mission Qatar Fund for Development is doing through the implementation of infrastructure projects in the countries the Fund cooperates with. We are also glad to provide all available expertise at Ashghal to contribute to achieving the mission of the Fund to implement these projects with the best quality and efficiency.”

Mr. Al Kuwari said, “Signing this memorandum comes within the framework of joint and close cooperation between the Fund and different government entities, including Ashghal, which contributes to achieve the Fund’s development objectives, as part of Qatar’s commitment towards friendly countries to implement different projects that contribute directly to the development of these countries.” He stated that the MoU will include important development projects in the fields of infrastructure, buildings, and project management. He added, “We are glad to announce the beginning of implementing this memorandum through cooperation between Qatar Fund for Development and Ashghal in developing infrastructure in Somalia, through the preparation of technical designs for the 90km long Mogadishu – Jawhar Road and 30km Mogadishu – Afgoye Road, which are very important projects that will enable the Somalian people to build infrastructure systems in the country, contributing directly to moving the economy and achieving sustainable development. We look forward to more cooperation and partnership in the future between Qatar Fund for Development and the Public Works Authority in order to enhance the role of Qatar in the development field locally and globally.”
