Qatar Fund for Development signs a memorandum of understanding with the Dutch “SPARK” organization
With the goal of creating jobs for Syrian refugees and displaced persons in host communities
Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Dutch non-governmental organization “SPARK” on the sidelines of the Doha Forum 2019, with the aim of supporting and empowering Syrian refugee youth, and IDPs in host communities by creating sustainable job opportunities in Syria and the host countries.
The signing of the agreement was attended by His Excellency Mr. Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Kuwari, Director General of the Qatar Development Fund, and Mr. Yannick du Pont, Director of SPARK.
The partnership program will allow to support the efforts of SPARK to enable Syrian refugees and host communities to develop entrepreneurship, create real job opportunities and stabilize refugee youth.
QFFD believes that sustainable economic growth is essential to alleviate the poverty and suffering of refugee youth in host countries, by providing support for capacity development services and job creation in conflict-affected areas.
From his side, Mr. Yannick du Pont thanks and appreciates QFFD’s support of SPARK’s work providing higher education and employment opportunities to Syrian refugees and vulnerable youth across the Middle East. “SPARK creates more job opportunities by boosting entrepreneurship development and supporting the growth of exisiting businesses by providing training, coaching and access to finance. We aim to support young people in becoming skilled, future leaders to rebuild their conflict-affected countries”, said Mr du Pont.
