An agreement was signed between Qatar University (QU) and Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) on Monday, October 30, 2017 to enhance cooperation and increase the effectiveness of a possible joint venture for each entity in the field of research and studies.
The agreement was signed by QU president Dr Hassan Rashid Al Derham and the Director General of QFFD, Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari as representatives from both sides.
The terms of the agreement promote and strengthen the scientific research in the developing countries, which fall under QFFD’s strategy. The agreement covers joint research projects and research infrastructure development, and provides opportunities for students of developing countries to pursue advanced programmes and conduct their necessary researches at Qatar University. The memorandum of understanding also aims at providing technical, advisory and training support to faculty members and researchers at universities in developing countries, supporting the development of intellectual property in these universities and leveraging the available innovation opportunities.
Commenting on the agreement, Dr Al Derham said:” Signing this MoU with Qatar Fund for Development will enhance cooperation in the field of research and studies breaking new ground for human communications and civilizations interaction with developing countries.”
“The agreement is part of the Fund’s efforts to achieve an integrated system of cooperation with institutions at the local and international levels, and build sustained and effective partnership with local and international institutions from the private and public sectors in order to promote education and scientific research sector in the developing countries”, said Mr. Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari.
