The Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD) and Qatar Charity have been confirmed as strategic partners of Aid&Trade London – an annual event that brings together members of the global aid community.
This year’s event will take place on the 25th and 26th of April 2018. Thousands of visitors are expected to attend, including government leaders, heads of international organisations, major NGOs and global policy makers. The event is supported by the United Nations and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent.
As strategic partners, QFFD and Qatar Charity will make keynote speeches to the event’s delegates, and run a series of workshops.
Other Qatar charitable organisations, including Qatar’s Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities, Qatar Red Crescent and Education Above All, will also contribute to the event.
The theme of this year’s Aid&Trade London is “Invest in Humanity”. It will look at how international organisations can work together to manage humanitarian operations efficiently and effectively.
Speakers at the event will present ideas on how to approach challenges in policymaking in this area. It will also be an opportunity for aid organisations to create vital partnerships.
H.E. Mr. Khalifa Al Kuwari, Director General of QFFD, said: “As a leading relief and development government agency, we look forward to meeting others in the global aid community to discuss how we can work together to manage humanitarian operations.
“Alongside other Qatari charities that are taking part in the event, we plan to highlight the role that education has to play in supporting the resilience of fragile countries, and in contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.”
Mr. Yousef Al-Kuwari, CEO of Qatar Charity, said: “As an international non-government organization based in Doha, Qatar Charity endeavors to serve all needy people across the world, reduce poverty, support sustainable development, and ensure disaster relief and emergency response. We work in close coordination with various United Nations agencies, international non-governmental organizations, and other humanitarian actors, and are keen to share, during Aid & Trade 2018, our innovative approaches especially in areas of education, economic empowerment, community support, and social cohesion.”
Mrs. Feraye Ozfescioglu, CEO of Aid&Trade London, said: “Delivering effective aid and promoting sustainable development was never a simple task, but current challenges reached exponential levels of complexity.
“Under the theme ‘Invest in Humanity’, Aid&Trade London is a call for action and a platform for bringing together the global aid and development community to facilitate cost-effective and sustained solutions.”
