Qatar Fund for Development, in partnership with Qatar Charity, provided urgent aid to those affected by the heavy rains and floods in the Republic of Chad, where the aid will be distributed to more than 14,000 beneficiaries. HE Amina Priscille Longoh, Chad’s Minister of Women and Protection of Children received the aid.
The aid included 2,700 food baskets, 2,700 non-food items kits, and 250 tents. It is expected that 2,700 families will benefit from this aid, each of which will receive food baskets and a set of personal hygiene tools, and 250 families will receive tents. This aid aims to alleviate the affected families’ human suffering and provide them with the necessary needs.
Since October of this year, the Republic of Chad has witnessed heavy and continuous rains and floods across the country. According to a recent report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid, more than 340,000 people have been affected by the heavy rains and continuous floods over the past weeks. About 2,700 crops were destroyed, threatening food security in the affected areas.
It should be noted that this urgent aid, provided by the Qatar Fund for Development and Qatar Charity, comes to support the Chadian people by providing them with urgent necessities, supporting them to rise again and rebuild their societies after this disaster with much-needed resources.
